Our mission is to empower patients and caregivers to make informed health decisions, empower healthcare professionals with more knowledge, and ultimately build healthier communities globally through the sharing of health information and expertise.
Our vision is to build a trusted health information network and resource for patients and caregivers as well as Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) in Africa, the Middle East, and their diaspora communities.
Our history during his many years of international work, Dr. Menghis Bairu saw the barriers healthcare professionals (HCPs) face in the global south when accessing relevant and current medical information and research. Dr. Bairu had a growing vision of a connected society of health professionals globally supporting efforts to improve patient care. In 2019, Dr. Bairu created Bairex Medical to facilitate connections between U.S.-based HCPs and their peers in countries in Africa and the Middle East, building a bridge for telehealth and educational services. He enlisted his friends and colleagues in medicine to volunteer their time working with and advising HCPs in these countries.
By early 2020, Dr. Bairu and Bairex Medical’s free peer-to-peer resources were utilized by many HCPs abroad. With the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, friends and community members of the African/Middle East diaspora looked to Dr. Bairu for information on COVID. He and his colleagues had become a trusted source of healthcare information. To expand into being a community education resource, Bairex Medical became Bairex Health, providing regular updates on the everchanging state of the pandemic. Patient advocacy also became a priority of Bairex Health during this time. Many of the same doctors volunteering for HCPs abroad were helping patients and caregivers seeking medical advice and second opinions. By 2022, Bairex Health was providing regular informational webinars, courses, and health news for community members and HCPs.
